IMF Resident Representative in the Republic of Moldova
The principles of the draft law on capital liberalization appear counter to
the objectives of the authorities' economic reform program supported by the IMF.
In particular, the law, in its current form, weakens anti-corruption measures
and will impede the fight against money laundering and fraud. We will continue
our dialogue with the authorities on how best to reconcile this legislation with
the stated objectives of the program.
